Cherry Tequila for Love

“Hit the road Jack and don’t come back no more no more no more no more, hit the road Jack, never come a back no more”
If you can’t buy me cherry tequila - you can’t talk to me. (there is no cherry tequila on the market, so you can’t talk to me)
And so ALL Jacks need to hit the road if they are not what I am looking for…harsh?.... no…. picky?… no… stubborn?.. no… just ….. HE will be able to find the cherry tequila … and even if it’s not cherry then, I will pretend that it is!

The fact of the matter is he must want to go and look for the cherry tequila, that’s how much he must want to have a conversation with me…and conversation that will end up being a lifetime long.....

We are not playing hard to get, we just want you to pursue us, because then we know we are yours and yours only… I think I would have adored living in the Elizabethan Times, horse rides and pick nicks and candle light (let’s forget about the slavery for a moment) Jane Austen got it very right! It might have been arranged, it might have been forced, it might have been conservative, but it was done in the right way.
Shakespearian times – plague, scandal, controversy and a world traveller of love, hate and comedy. But he wrote: “When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew.” – I will know that you will find the Cherry Tequila and I will run through “water and fire after such a kind heart”.

In the end of the day you can say and do what you want, but there are only 4 scenarios:
1. He likes you, you like him – we all win!
2. He likes you, you don’t like him – he loses and doesn’t show it
3. He doesn’t like you and you like him – you loose and cry for a week and talk to all your friends about it
4. He doesn’t like you and you don’t like him – boys and girls can’t just be friends

This is the same in all the countries around the world (no Italian men are NOT different) find number 1, and when you do, pour him a cherry tequila and bake him a Black Forest Cake:

Black Forest Cake:
Ingredients
• 2 1/8 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 cups white sugar
• 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
• 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 3 eggs
• 1 cup milk
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
• 2 (20 ounce) cans pitted sour cherries
• 1 cup white sugar
• 1/4 cup corn-starch
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 3 cups heavy whipping cream
• 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9 inch, round, cake pans; cover bottoms with waxed paper.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, 2 cups sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, milk, oil, and 1 tablespoon vanilla; beat until well blended. Pour batter into prepared pans.
3. Bake for 35 minutes, or until wooden toothpick inserted in centres comes out clean. Cool layers in pans on wire racks 10 minutes. Loosen edges, and remove to racks to cool completely.
4. Drain cherries, reserving 1/2 cup juice. Combine reserved juice, cherries, 1 cup sugar and corn-starch in a 2 quart saucepan. Cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla. Cool before using.
5. Combine whipping cream and confectioner's sugar in a chilled medium bowl. Beat with an electric mixer at high speed until stiff peaks form.
6. With long serrated knife, split each cake layer horizontally in half. Tear one split layer into crumbs; set aside. Reserve 1 1/2 cups Frosting for decorating cake; set aside. Gently brush loose crumbs off top and side of each cake layer with pasty brush or hands. To assemble, place one cake layer on cake plate. Spread with 1 cup frosting; top with 3/4 cup cherry topping. Top with second cake layer; repeat layers of frosting and cherry topping. Top with third cake layer. Frost side of cake. Pat reserved crumbs onto frosting on side of cake. Spoon reserved frosting into pastry bag fitted with star decorator tip. Pipe around top and bottom edges of cake. Spoon remaining cherry topping onto top of cake.

A lesson from Lewis

So everybody always says follow your heart – I don’t really think it is following, first and foremost it is CONNECTING to your heart – once the connection has been made your tummy will tell you what you are doing is not sustainable, it’s stupid and impossible to achieve…. Don’t listen your tummy…

How do we prepare for a journey…a passion…a purpose? My journey after leaving the UK brought me to Cape Town, the city that always sleeps :) , yet the wind never does….

Working for a company that gives me a lot of opportunity to learn from the best and meet the best, people like Tony Humphrey, and for example, this morning Lewis Pugh – environmental campaigner, maritime lawyer and endurance swimmer. Soft on the eye and exceptionally inspirational I was once again inspired to LIVE and LIVE FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN! I cannot possibly explain everything I think and feel at this moment (but taking a week of work just to think about the last hour would be beneficial). The main light bulb moment for me is to not lose focus on your dream, or purpose, or the things that keeps your buckets full in the end of the day (the bucket story is for another day) .

How do you keep your focus on a goal?
1. Break the motions down in manageable chunks – Lewis had to swim 1km in the Arctic sea to prove a point, he broke it down into 100m sections and took it step by step (PLEASE READ HIS BOOK – “Achieving the Impossible”)
2. Take a step back and remember the significant moments in your life – what have you already done towards this moment and are you willing to give that up?
3. …and then… walk to the end of your life and look at what you did…..

Then get on the horse and do what you have to: MAKE UP YOUR MIND and don’t prepare for failure! - “There is nothing as powerful as a made-up mind” – Lewis G Pugh.

PS. Your goal doesn’t have to be to swim the arctic sea and safe the planet, it can be as simple as going to the gym or to start a garage band :) - as I said, whatever keeps your buckets full…

The buckets: let me tell the story – I have this friend that is really emotional and always talking about stability and instability and worrying about things that doesn’t exist because her thoughts are too much for her brain (we are very much alike) - (ek’s lief vir jou tjom as jy die lees) – and she told me about your little buckets. All of us have little buckets that have to be kept full, these are the things that makes us, us. For example I have a creative bucket, a social bucket , a physical workout bucket (these buckets are normally not about work things :) ) … as soon as a bucket gets too low or empty, you start feeling that something is missing, you are not you because your one bucket is empty… morel of the story – get to know your buckets and keep them full!

...the Road More Traveled..rather than Less Traveled..for now :-)

This morning I just wanted to get out and hit the ROAD..instead..at 13:03..I am still in bed in London Town...blogging about the road I wanna hit :)...EVERYBODY is entitled to a lazy day...even if you are a "Roadside-travelling-don't know where I'm going in August when my visa expires Cherry (girl :))..or man which will make you a "CherrO"?"
...lazy time is thinking time..about my journey...the next one I am going to take..or about the one I have been running/living/enjoying for almost 25 years!! What's next? Where is next? When is next?

..but sometimes I do think "STOP THINKING AND JUST DO!! This moment is life, not tomorrow or next year - right now!"
Eat that chocolate NOW, start working out NOW and arrange that trip NOW...whatever you've been putting off to do...do it NOW, no matter how big or small..just don't over-do it..ha ha ha!
PS:you can be lazy lying on the bed, couch, floor - and still eat a chocolate or arrange a trip - it is just going to be difficult to work out :) )

For NOW I am a South African Roadside Cherry..going places, experiencing new things, seeing the world...until one-day..when I'll get settled..somewhere (with my family close by :))
My conclusion of my mixed thoughts:

1. Pray and think about the important things
2. Discuss your thoughts with the people close to you, and make use of their advice!!
3. ...and in EVERY SPARE moment - without being irresponsable - HIT THE ROAD!!!
